Rajan Luthra

Biography

Rajan is amongst India’s foremost automation experts with over 25 years of experience in driving complex technology, enterprise security, and business transformation programs. Starting in 1999, he has been a pioneer in design, engineering, and execution of large-scale Internet of Things (IoT) projects for security automation.

He possesses an in-depth knowledge Smart Cities and Homeland Security, and has provided guidance on various government initiatives. Rajan was instrumental in the establishment of Mumbai Police’s Social Media Lab. Currently, he is the Senior Vice President in the Chairman’s Office at Reliance Industries Limited. During his tenure with Reliance, which has spanned over 16 years, Rajan has worked in various sectors, such as Energy, Retail, and Telecom. As a member of the initial startup team, he helped chalk out the business strategy and execution plans for Reliance Retail. In addition to this, he has been responsible for strategic oversight and capacity building of the Corporate Security Function.

Furthermore, he is a Director on the board of Reliance Aerospace Technologies, Covacsis Technologies, and Videonetics Technology. He possesses a keen interest in strong competencies in Cyber Physical Systems, IoT, Industry 4.0, Smart Buildings, Cognitive Computing, Cyber Resilience, Biometrics, UAVs, and Enterprise Risk Management. As a member of the GenNext Innovation Hub, he is engaged in identifying and nurturing promising startups within these domains.

Rajan graduated with a degree in Engineering and holds an Executive MBA with Specialization in National Security & Counter Terrorism. He is a member of the FICCI Committee on Homeland Security and Bureau of Indian Standards Sub-committee on Alarms & Electronic Security Systems. He sits on the Editorial Board of SECURITY TODAY and FSAI Journal and is a regular speaker at various events both in India and abroad.
